0Gola Eclipse Mode Sneakers Review: Putting the FUN in function
I picked up a pair of Gola Eclipse Mode sneakers on a whim after seeing them on the Evereve site. Not wanting to pay full price, I did a quick search and found them on sale for $65 at Gola USA (they occasionally get marked down). After two weeks on a slow boat from the UK, my new shoes arrived all shiny and new. I admit I knew nothing of the brand prior to ordering. I loved the look, but would they be supportive, comfortable and how would they fit or feel? See my video review to find out! Don’t have time to watch? Here’s a bullet list of high and lowlights of the Gola Eclipse Mode:
- Retro vibe with modern comfort features.
- Comes in fun colors and patterns.
- Toe box doesn’t look clownish but accommodates bunions and hammertoes.
- Soft terry lining
- Cushioned, removable insole
- Phylon outsole– I believe this is the same as EVA. It’s pretty rigid so not a lot of bending at forefoot (protects arthritic toes).
- A little stiff at first but breaks in quickly.
- Makes feet look 1/2 size smaller!
- Shoe sits low on ankle meaning no rubbing, but heel lifts a little when walking.
- True to size in my opinion.
- Takes two weeks for delivery since coming from UK.
- Free returns.
The Gola Eclipse Mode is available in sizes 5-10 for $130 from GolaUSA.com (I got mine on sale for $65 so keep checking back), Amazon. Zappos carries Gola footwear; look for styles that have the Phylon outsole like the ones reviewed here for a similar look, fit and feel.
